Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s are serving up what they have deemed to be the “hottest burger in fast food” with the Thickburger El Diablo. The new blazing burger features a spicy combination of jalapeno slices, jalapeno poppers, a spicy habanero-bacon sauce, and pepper jack cheese. The non-spicy parts of the burger are bacon, consumer choice of a 1/3 or 1/2 lb patty of angus beef, and the bun.
Foods are getting progressively spicier in fast food over the years, and Carl’s Jr./Hardee’s have made it clear by the name that they want consumers to know what they’re getting themselves into.
There will also be a Crispy Chicken El Diablo version available. Both sandwiches can be expected to be on the market for the next four months, and if sales are particularly solid, the burger could land a longer spot on the menu (like my beloved Big Chicken Fillet did). The standalone 1/3 lb. burger is expected to retail for $5.49, and $7.99 in a combo. The chicken version will retail for $5.99 for the sandwich.
