Sonic has introduced the Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwiches – three new twists on their grilled cheese sandwich. These include: The BLT Grilled Cheese, the Philly Steak Grilled Cheese, and the Cheddar Bacon Ranch Grilled Cheese. For an upcharge, Sonic also suggests adding a patty to their Grilled Cheese sandwiches in order to make them into their respective versions of a Grilled Cheeseburger. Each of the Grilled Cheese sandwiches are priced at $2.49 and are available for a limited time only.
BLT Grilled Cheese Review
The BLT Grilled Cheese takes a regular Sonic Grilled Cheese, and tops it with your classic BLT fare: lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, and mayonnaise. The result is a cheesier version of a BLT, nothing more, nothing less. This BLT got the coldest the quickest, but it’s easy to understand that the lettuce and tomatoes are the culprit. I’m not sure if the cheese helped or hurt this sandwich. It definitely tasted like a BLT – the bacon strips were the dominate flavor, the tomatoes were a good thickness and provided some much needed moisture, and the lettuce added crunch. The difference here, is you get a note of that familiar grilled cheese taste in every bite. It works quite well, and creates a pretty unique flavor.
Philly Steak Grilled Cheese Review
The Philly Steak Grilled Cheese tops a Sonic Grilled Cheese with grilled onions, marinated sirloin steak, and some mayonnaise. This is my favorite of the three sandwiches. The Philly Steak Grilled Cheese has the most substance of the sandwiches, so it felt more “complete” than the other two. The steak was tender – not chewy at all, and had a good flavor by itself. There was a nice amount of yummy grilled onions on the sandwich, and when you combine steak and onions you really can’t go wrong. This sandwich features all of the main ingredients of a Philly cheesesteak, which I have been craving lately, so I might have been a bit biased towards this one. I also have to say that there was a crap ton of mayonnaise on my sandwich. I’m not sure if this is the typical “recommended” amount, but they put on way too much for me. It was easily remedied with a napkin though.
Cheddar Bacon Ranch Grilled Cheese Review
The Cheddar Bacon Ranch Grilled Cheese adds strips of bacon and a generous helping of smokey bacon ranch sauce. I really liked this particular Grilled Cheese. The Ranch was tangy and creamy, and was spread evenly throughout every bite. There was a good amount of bacon, and the cheddar cheese complimented the other flavors. I have a feeling this Grilled Cheese variation would be the best of the three as an upgraded Grilled Cheeseburger. Bacon, ranch, and cheese – a quick way to make anything delicious, but also very bad for you.
The Sonic Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are all fair sandwiches, and at $2.49 each, they are a decent value for the money. I’m grateful that the toast wasn’t too hard, because there is something masochistic about eating something that scrapes your mouth up with every bite. The Cheddar Bacon Ranch Grilled Cheese might serve as the best platform for adding a beef patty. The Philly Steak Grilled Cheese was my favorite of the bunch, although the other two certainly aren’t terrible.
