Quiznos has brought back their Lobster and Seafood Salad Sub for fish season. Quiznos is offering their Lobster and Seafood Salad mix on a sub or in a salad. The Lobster and Seafood Salad is a mix of lobster and “seafood”, which I guess is Quizno’s safe way of declaring the mix isn’t 100% lobster. Upon further investigation, it turns out that the seafood mix is 51% lobster and 49% whitefish. The sub comes on your choice of bread with a lemon butter spread on it and is topped with lettuce or your choice of vegetables. I ordered this sub in the regular size for $7.69.
How Does it Taste?
The Lobster and Seafood Salad Sub reminds me of the seafood sub at Subway. Unfortunately the seafood sub is no longer served at Subway (R.I.P.), but it was one of my favorites while it was available. If I was to compare the seafood sub from Subway with the Lobster and Seafood Salad Sub from Quiznos, the Quiznos sub comes out slightly ahead. The Subway seafood sub is creamier, but consists primarily of imitation crab. The Quiznos Lobster and Seafood Salad Sub is a tad drier, but tastes more like “seafood”. Quizno’s put an ample amount of the Lobster and Seafood Salad on my regular sized sub – some of it actually fell out of the sides of the sandwich.
The Lobster sub from Quiznos is one of the pricier options on the menu, possibly the most expensive on the menu. There is no doubt this sub contains lobster after taking a bite of this sandwich. The Lobster and Seafood sub tasted very nice. It didn’t really blow me away, but it certainly wasn’t terrible. The lobster in the mix was pretty tasty, and the buttery kind of spread they applied to the bread added a nice flavor to the whole sandwich.
I was tempted to ask for mayonnaise or ranch on this sub, but I wanted to try it in the chain’s recommended form. I did, however, have them add tomatoes. If I was to order this again, which I would consider, I would definitely ask for mayonnaise. It wasn’t terribly dry, but a little more moisture would have been welcomed. This sandwich was also very filling – the regular size sub without any chips was more than enough to fill me up.
The Lobster and Seafood Salad Sub definitely helps to fill the void left behind by the departure of the Subway seafood sub. I actually prefer the taste of the Lobster and Seafood Salad. However, from a business standpoint it really has to be better to justify the price difference between the chains. I enjoyed the spread they applied to the bread and Quizno’s toasting method is far superior to Subway’s (Sorry Subway, but those little industrial Easy Bake ovens suck). I would recommend asking for some kind of dressing upon ordering this sub. Overall, if you like seafood I recommend giving the Lobster and Seafood Salad Sub a try.
*Alright, so the Subway Seafood Sensation sub isn’t completely gone, but it is no longer available in my area *super sadface*
Pros: Lobster and Seafood Salad mix was tasty, buttery spread on the bread, plenty of Lobster and Seafood Salad applied to the sandwich.
Cons: Lobster mix was a little dry, fairly pricy, Subway no longer offering seafood subs
