McDonald’s is selling a new Peaches and Creme Pie this summer for a limited time. I’m not sure if it’s a regional thing or it’s at my McDonald’s early, but I don’t see any information on the Peaches and Creme Pie on McDonald’s website. The Peaches and Creme Pie is a baked pie filled with half creme filling and half peach filling. A single pie goes for $1 while two pies go for around $1.49.
The last pie I tried from McDonald’s featuring the creme filling was the Strawberry and Creme Pie that they were offering a while back. The creme filling used in the Peaches and Creme Pie is exactly the same as in that one. The creme filling is sweet and tastes vaguely of cream cheese icing.
In the Peaches and Creme Pie, there’s about equal parts creme filling and peach filling. The peach filling featured tiny pieces of diced peaches inside of an orange, molten, gelatin goop. The peach filling did taste peachy, but overall I thought it was pretty weak in terms of peach flavor. Personally, I didn’t think the peach filling and creme filling mixed very well. The creme filling was a lot more potent and ended up dominating most of the peach flavor. What was left of the peach flavor was no more than a residual tang.
The reason McDonald’s Strawberry and Creme Pie worked so well was because the strawberry filling was sweet enough and potent enough to work with the creme rather than being overwhelmed by it. But hey, it’s hard to complain too much when the price point is so low. McDonald’s Peaches and Creme Pie was a bit of a miss for me, but it was far from inedible. Now if only McDonald’s would do a Cherries and Creme Pie.
Value: 9/10 (can get 2 for $1.49)
Pros: Sweet and cheap, the creme side is pretty yummy
Cons: The peaches and creme didn’t go that well together, the creme flavor dominated the peach flavor
