Review: Burger King Sweet Potato Fries

The Sweet Potato Fries have made a limited time return to Burger King’s summer menu. The Sweet Potato Fries are pretty much what the name implies: sweet potatoes that are sliced up and fried and then sprinkled with salt. I picked up a medium order of Sweet Potato Fries at my local BK for $2.29.

How Do They Taste?

Burger King (at least my Burger King) didn’t skimp on the fries when it came to the portion size. The fries were completely packed into the container and falling out into the bag. Sweet potato fries are a bit pricier, but I felt like I was getting my money’s worth with these.

The Sweet Potato Fries were a lot saltier than I thought they would be. I expected the sweet and earthy flavor of sweet potatoes initially, but I was hit with a strong punch of salt. I get that they are fries by default, but I like sweet potato fries to have a bit less salt than standard french fries to really let the flavor of the sweet potato shine through. These were salted up to french fry standards.

After getting past the initial shock of the salt, Burger King’s Sweet Potato Fries have a wonderful sweet potato flavor to them. They are just slightly sweet and ever so addicting. It’s nice to have something a little different from the regular old french fries. They are also better for you than french fries! The Sweet Potato Fries were a bit soggy, but that didn’t come as much of a surprise, since Burger King’s fries are usually soggy anyways.

Overview

Burger King’s Sweet Potato Fries come in a sizable portion and provide a very nice sweet potato flavor. The fries were a bit oversalted, but it was easy to get past after the first bite. The fries were a little soggy, but at the end of the day they still tasted good. If you plan on ordering these, I’d advise asking for light salt on these if possible. I recommend giving the new Sweet Potato Fries a try.

The Score

  1. Hi there,

I am a manger at Burger King and was so pleased to read your review. Thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed your fries for the most past. Last year, 1 month after we released our sweet potato fries we listened to our guest and we seen a lot of people found them to be to salty so we no longer salted them. I am sorry your store did not follow up on this new procedure thus giving you a unpleasantly salted fry. I hope your next visit goes even better! Bye.
