Review: Burger King Latte

Burger King has been promoting their new coffee drinks like crazy lately. A few weeks ago they were selling small hot or iced coffees for the nearly free price of $.25. From today through March 24, Burger King is selling their small size lattes for $1.00. Outside of this special a small Burger King latte will set you back $2.59.

How Does it Taste?

Burger King mildly impressed me last month with their new iced coffees. Since they were only $.25, I picked up quite a few iced coffees. While most were good, some had so much flavored syrup in them that I felt like I was drinking pure chocolate. The consistency with them was not very good. However, the iced coffees were an improvement over the franchises previous installations.

So how does the latte fare in comparison to Burger King’s other new coffee drinks? The latte is definitely the best of the new offerings, but it wasn’t without flaws. The first sip of the latte tasted almost salty, although this might have been partially to blame for the lack of any sweetener. After adding a packet of sugar, the latte was much smoother to drink.

The latte had the consistency of a good latte and a decent amount of foam on top. The coffee was easy to drink, but didn’t hide the fact that it indeed contained coffee. I’d say that Burger King’s is comparable to McDonald’s lattes in terms of taste.

Burger King Latte

The Burger King latte proved to be an okay cup of coffee. The latte tasted better after the addition of a single packet of sugar, and the coffee was hot without being scalding. The latte is pricier than Burger King’s hot and iced coffees, but it is indeed the best cup of coffee the company has put out in a while. If you were thinking of trying the latte, make sure to stop in before March 24 and try one for $1.00.

The Score

Taste: 7.5/10
Presentation: 8/10

Pros: Best coffee I’ve had from BK, about on par with McDonald’s lattes, was only $1.00
Cons: Needed a small addition of sugar, is made from a latte mix

  1. Had one the other day. It was not a latte. Came out of a machine that mixes powder like at mini marts. It must be instant mix coffee. Will go to McDonald where they have real coffee from the bean and steam there milk.

    • Yes that sounds about right. I heard it was a powdered mix, but I didn’t witness the preparation of my latte.

      • How can u say bk latte easily to mcdonald latte? Bk lattes aren’t real. @ least McDonald’s uses real real espresso & milk. Plus they grind their own beans & stream milk. McDonald’s espresso is a million times better!

        • McDonald’s lattes may be real, but I wasn’t debating over the preparation of either latte, I was simply analyzing the taste. I would not order a Burger King latte again as it simply isn’t worth a powdered latte.

          • Having had a few BK “lattes,” and many Mc-Lattes, I’d definitely choose the latter for real latte taste. Burger King and Seattle’s Best Coffee should be ashamed of the product they’re trying to sell as a latte.

  2. Bob Evans – Best cappuccino ever-it is so creamy, with great foam, it’s every bit as good as a Latte, plus free re-fills to boot. It cannot be beat!!
