Review: Burger King Cheesy Tots

BK Cheesy TotsBurger King has brought back Cheesy Tots for the new year, along with releasing a plethora of new and returning items including: The Philly Chicken Sandwich, the Italian Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Nuggets, Molten Fudge Bites, and the Molten Fudge Sundae. I picked up a medium size order of the Burger King Cheesy Tots for the price of $2.59.

How Does it Taste?

Burger King has been disappointing me lately. They have been resting on their laurels with the Whopper due to their 55 year anniversary, and the Gingerbread Cookie items they released this holiday season were pretty much a miss for me. But the Cheesy Tots, while technically a returning item rather than new item, have renewed my faith in Burger King.

The Burger King Cheesy Tots have a mysteriousness about them. What lurks underneath those deep fried coatings? What treasures are contained within? Do these tots hold the answer to life? No, probably not, but I can assure you that the concoction that lies within these fried balls of wonder is absolutely delicious.

BK Cheesy Tots

Biting into one of these Cheesy Tots is like basking in a sea of cheesy wonder. The Burger King Cheesy Tots are crispy on the outside and loaded with a delicious blend of potatoes and melted cheese on the inside. They bear a strong resemblance to fried mac and cheese in both texture and taste. They are warm and gooey on the inside and are full of cheesy flavor. The cheese is balanced – not too salty, but not mild either. Whenever I order “tots”, I always have to use ketchup, but dipping these into ketchup would be sacrilege. They are perfect just the way they are. Even the most fiendish ketchup abusers shouldn’t find a need to douse these in ketchup.

BK Cheesy Tots

The Burger King Cheesy Tots are a real treat. They have a good crispiness on the outside and are soft and gooey on the inside. I don’t go to Burger King often, but I can easily see myself ordering these the next time I visit. I would take these over an order of fries any day.

  1. You are 100% right, these tots are the MONEY! Easily my favorite fast food item right now. And i read this review after reading your one for the new loaded tots. They look pretty disappointing so i wasn’t surprised when i read your review. Although i’ll def still try them considering how cheap that nonsense is.
